Nearly half of UK managers are too overwhelmed to do their jobs, research finds

Nearly half (47 per cent) of UK managers reported feeling “too overwhelmed” with their routine responsibilities in the last six months to perform their duties effectively.

According to the survey of 525 senior business decision makers by Lattice and YouGov, a third of managers said they needed clearer policies and guidelines on recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and disciplinary procedures  to feel more confident in their management abilities.

The area most in demand (31 per cent) across all demographics was for more training and development on core management skills.

Management Training

Being an effective manager is a learned skill, and doesn't come naturally to everyone. It's essential for organisations to empower their managers by providing training in people management. Without this support, companies risk setting their teams up for failure.

Investing in the development of your managers not only mitigates legal risk, but also boosts performance, inspires loyalty and ensures your teams feel valued and appreciated.

Starford offers many training courses in this area, including Managing People and Leadership Workshop: Key Tools for Great Leaders. If you would like to discuss one of these courses for your organisation, or a bespoke workshop to suit your specific needs, please contact our team on 01342 347063 or email us via hello@starfordlegalhr.com
